I was offline for over a day because my computer hard drive died. There was no way to salvage anything on it and I lost a LOT of things -- art for PULSE stories, some PULSE stories, some short stories and other things.

I'm very stressed about it.

My dream was to see the Eagles versus the Steelers in the Superbowl -- then PA wins no matter what ;) But I'm happy my Steelers made it again to the Superbowl! Now they have to beat those birdies!

I was so excited to find The Miracle of the Bells on tower.com in November. I haven't seen that film in probably 15 years. I waited until Christmas Eve Eve to watch it, because I remember watching it much on a day like that many years ago.

The ad at tower.com listed this as REGION 0 and said it would play on all DVD players. I saw on the front of the DVD and back of the DVD it has a "U" on it for Universal, which I'm guessing Tower took to mean it would play on all DVD players. I thought that myself.

Until I go to put in the DVD and get "Disc Error" messages on all my DVD players. Then I examined the DVD more closely and saw on the back of the disc: 2 UK/PAL right next to the Universal.

So I'm guessing that means Region 2.

Tower.com lists they won't take returns of things that are opened. It's not the 15 bucks. I'm just bummed becase I wanted to see this movie again.

No one I know has a copy of it on VHS or DVD.

And for some reason no television channel we get here has shown it for years and years ...

Dream come true?

I found out more details of my aunt's death. My cousin didn't find her. Her sister found her. She was still warm, but when my aunt called 9-1-1, they asked her if she knew CPR and she didn't. Great Aunt V was 91 years old and had Alzheimers, but she still would go visit people when someone else drove her. She got to see a lot of Great Great neices and nephews and, aside from the Alzheimers, I don't remember her ever being sick. I don't think she was ever in the hospital or if she was, it wasn't for anything serious.

Her doctor insisted on an autopsy, because she lived alone. We all thought that was insane and it found no four play. Her showing is Thursday and the funeral is Friday.

I just found out that my Aunt V has ALL of Aunt Liz's stuff in her basement in boxes. How weird would it be if that piece of jewlery she kept trying to give me were in one of those boxes?

My dad told her sister about the dream and she said that I must have seen a picture of Aunt Liz somewhere and that's how I described her. But my dad told her I never did.

Death in the Family

I just found out my great aunt died. She was on my dad's side of the family. When I was younger, she didn't like me that much for whatever reason, but these past few years she mellowed and called me one of her favorites.

I'm kind of bummed. She had some early stages of Alzheimers but insisted on still living alone. I don't have details yet, but will later. I know my cousin, my dad's best friend, Albert found her.

I just broke down and bought two Marvel Essentials from Amazon.com. I got the Dazzler first volume and the second volume of Spider-Woman. I have the first volume of Spider-Woman and love it. I have all the single issues, but I really * really * like having almost entire collections in one place like this! The second volume of Spider-Woman has some of my all-time favorite stories. I can't wait to read it again!

Ballad of the Barking Dog Year Two

School started again.

Know how I know?

Not because of the date or anything ... because the dog has been out for longer than the 15 minutes it's supposed to be allowed to bark during the time it's "quiet time" 11 pm to 7 am.

Yesterday it was out around 25 minutes.

Today it was like the hour again. The "F-U, I'm throwing the dog out before I shower and get ready for work and leaving it bark out there in that shrill pitch for an hour" F-U.

We called the police several times last year and were told, "Mrs. Contino [I pretend to be my mom because she is shy about talking like that], We sympathize and will talk to your neighbors."

The last time we called the police they supposedly told our neighbors they thought we were being assinine by bothering them with this when there are so many more serious matters the Police have to be dealing with.

I live in a really small town and the most pressing thing I think has happened here in the past few years was a traffic accident.

Anyway, they kind of "threatened" us last year when we called the police the last time and their son vandalized our house with his friends. I never told on him, because he promised me he would NOT do it again.

But ...

I can't live like this. I have trouble sleeping at night and to be awoken with just two or three hours sleep and then up for the rest of the day is INSANE.

I don't know what to do.

The neighbors on one side of her are deaf.
The neighbors on the other side of her aren't ever home.
THe neighbors on boths sides of us have little kids getting ready for school first thing in the morning and kids who play with their son.

SO we DO look like the bad guy.

But, man, it's insane.

Animal Control is the local police.

If they're telling them WE'RE wrong ....

I just don't get why she doesn't either put a muzzle on it first thing in the morning or chain it in the BACK yard first thing in the morning or install a doggy door or ANYTHING like just stand there for the minute it takes it to pee or poop. It's not like a person sitting there reading a magazine for a long time taking a dump. IT just DOES its business and is done.
